What is Monopoly?
Monopoly is a widely played strategic board game produced by Parker Bros, under Hasbro toy brand. This game is about rolling dice and moving around the board, deciding when to trespass for low-cost real estate or other transactions that will grow your assets.

This article promises to tell you everything about the Monopoly board, what comes with it, each playable square for both buying stuff and cards drawn (Community Chest in USA), and how to play Monopoly.
Game Components
The Monopoly set includes:
- 1 or 2 dice to roll and for walk on the board.
- A board on which made of numbered squares and property squares where players can build houses, hotels, among other real estate.
- Player tokens, typically in different colors so they can be distinguished.

- Community Chest and Chance Cards add colour through random events impacting upon the game.
- Game money, and bank tray to help with transactions during the game.
The Game Board
It features of 40 small squares an some important location marked on the map, 3 Chance squares, and 3 Community Chest squares.
A different color is used for each property, to represent the property values and so on. The board itself may goes by different names and design in each country or manufacturer; but it remains as the core essence of the game.
Types of Squares
The 40 squares on the Monopoly board are divided into the below categories:
- There are 28 property squares; each of them refers to a unique asset or location. The properties are color-coded, as well as stratified in terms of value.
- 3 Chance squares: Where players will have to pick up a random Chance card equal to the crossroads on which they get and this may be good or bad.
- 3 Community Chest squares: The player has to draw from the deck of community chest cards when he or she lands on one of these spaces which can provide benefits, penalties and etc.
- Four special squares: Start, Jail, Free Parking and Festival.
Now this is the block where the game starts.
- It can send players to the Jail square.
- The Festival square enables players to purchase or sell properties for a reduced fee.
- Players who land on Free Parking get to avoid paying the fees for landing on other squares.
Monopoly Rules
At the start of the game, two or more players must fill in. Players take a turn piling the dice and moving their marker-cube on that number location.
At every square, players can buy the land, build houses on it, pay taxes, pay rent, or even go to jail at some pre-determined costs.
Here are some of the conditions in which the game can end:
- All are bankrupt leaving one last one.
- A player controls all cities on a single street.
- A player has 5 locations where tourists may be (precariously) staying.
- A player has three pairs of color sets.
If at the end of 30 rounds, or after 25 minutes, no one has met the conditions, then the player with the most money wins.
How to Play Monopoly
Starting the game: Choose a player to play as both the Auctioneer and Banker, when needed. A player that collects taxes, debts, fines, and interest from other players.
Nothing has changed — all the other players put their markers on GO. Players will be required to roll the dice and then move their token a calculated number of spaces, going around the board in clockwise fashion.
Once you have rolled and moved to a square, you take the action specified by that square:
- If it is unowned, you may purchase the property or begin development on real estate.
- If the land is under lease, you will be paying rent to the owner of the property.
- You can, if you like, buy a property from another player.
- Special squares can be expected as they often refer to Chance and Community Chest, and might task the player or reward them.
- You also receive $200 from the bank if you pass the Go square.
The monies should be given to the Bank where you land; Income Tax properties reduction is based on dice roll. When you do use this square and land on it, if you just pass over without landing, then no rent is required. And lastly, if you happen to get a Jail space, you will lose your turn and not make a move until you are out.
Conclusion
The game of Monopoly is one that gets you excited by using strategy, critical thinking, and a knack for your money. Call up your friends and family and split screen the game with them for some fun challenging moments.
